SPORTS UPDATE WEEK 9

A huge highlight to the start of this week is the opening of our beautiful brand new turf, which once was (most of the year) a muddy field. We have already managed to have a ‘new turf’ get together with all the hockey players and our record number of 5 hockey teams will be announced shortly. Today we also held netball trials and with close to 100 children involved in netball this year we will form the teams once all the logistics have been sorted. What an asset this turf will be to our school and will provide us with an amazing learning, playing and training space!

Thank you very much for registering your children and letting them participate in Torbay School’s sport for 2021. Yesterday we met with everyone involved in all sporting codes and talked about the Code of Conduct for Players and behaviour expectations for trainings and games. We also have a Code of Conduct for Parents and Coaches and these are available on Torbay School website. We would be very grateful if you could familiarise yourself with these. All of our coaches are volunteers who generously give up their time to teach your children new skills. Please remind your children to be at their best behaviour during trainings and games and always thank their coaches for their efforts.

It is nearly time to sign up for Flippaball and Newbies Waterpolo for Term 2. If your kids like water and are confident swimmers please consider giving these sports a try. Our numbers have grown steadily and children really enjoy involvement in these sports.

Little League, Miniball and Basketball continue into Term 2 as they are played on a pre Semester basis.

Please keep an eye on these very helpful websites as they post draws and regular updates there: www.northharbourwaterpolo.co.nz – Flippaball, Newbies Waterpolo, The East Coast Bays Sports League Facebook Page for info about Little League, Miniball and Basketball, and for upcoming sportswww.kidzplaynetball.co.nz ,www.netballnorthharbour.co.nz,www.harbourhockey.org.nz and our websitewww.torbay.school.nz/ourlearning/sport – here  you can also read our comprehensive Sports Guide 2021.
