SPORTS UPDATE WEEK 5

Let’s hope that Level 3 Covid restrictions will really soon turn to Level 2 (or 1 or none) and we can play sports again. Term 1 Touch has now been cancelled – this was meant to be a 5 week season to make up for lost games in 2020. Fees will be refunded directly to your Kindo account in due course. Fingers crossed that in September we will be able to get a full season of touch in.

It can only get better, right? Well, our beautiful brand spanking new all weather surface on the bottom field is progressing and we are hoping to hold  Y5/6 netball trials on it later in March and hockey trainings not long after that. It will provide us with a hockey field, full netball court, two smaller netball courts and an additional play area for children.

Netball registrations for ALL year levels (Kidzplay) are now open on KINDO – our online shop.  For Y6 children (only) we offer 2 different venue options for netball – Saturday games at Kidzplay which are held at Pinehurst School and Wednesday afternoon/evening games which are held at Netball North Harbour. Y6 students can pick one or both. Once the registrations close we will look at the numbers to see if we have enough registered players to put teams together. Hockey registrations will open soon.

Flippaball and newbies waterpolo children managed to participate and enjoy one training session and we are very hopeful that they will be able to put their skills into a good use in games really soon. A huge thank you to all parents who offered to coach or manage teams or help in any way, this is very much appreciated.

Thank you also to all basketball, minball and little league parent coaches and managers, we are delighted that every team now has a coach and really look forward to a fun season. We will run a session for basketball/miniball parent coaches to help you with training  ideas as soon as we are able to.

Don’t forget to familiarise yourselves with ‘Codes of Conduct’ for parents, players and coaches via our website.

Please keep an eye on these very helpful website as they post draws and regular updates there – especially with Covid and the change of levels – we all need to be aware of the conditions and requirements for the sports to happen:  www.northharbourwaterpolo.co.nz – Flippaball, Newbies Waterpolo, The East Coast Bays Sports League Facebook Page for info about Little League, Miniball and Basketball, and for upcoming sports www.kidzplaynetball.co.nz , www.netballnorthharbour.co.nz, www.harbourhockey.org.nz and our website www.torbay.school.nz/ourlearning/sport.

In the meantime, watch some videos about your sport and skills you could learn and practice at home and I am sure we will be out on the courts and field really soon.
