Kia ora,
As we reach the halfway point of the school year, we look back on what our tamariki have been up to in their respective sports. As always a big thank you to all of our coaches and managers. Sport here at Torbay would not be possible without you. All your time and effort is always greatly appreciated.
Senior Cross Country: On Friday the 30th of May (Week 5) we hosted our annual senior cross country races. After all of the children’s hard work training at school (or during run club) to get ready for the big day, it was great to see our tamariki choosing to compete against each other or participate in the fun run. It was a day of sore legs, rain, resilience and a lot of effort and fun. Thank you to students and staff at Long Bay College who helped to marshall our course and to the parents who managed to come along and cheer on our students.

Torbay Sports Hoodies:
We have had some enquiries about our Torbay School Sports Hoodies. We are currently engaging with NZ Uniforms and are waiting for final design approval. These will be available for purchase through NZ Uniforms in Term 3. More information will come through from us when these are ready to order. Please note that this is an optional piece of uniform and can only be used for Torbay School sporting and interschool events and are not able to be worn at school to replace our Torbay School blue jumper.
Sport Photos: Photolife will be back at Torbay on the 26th of August to do our team photos. Students who play netball, basketball, splashpolo, and/or hockey will need to bring their sports uniform to school with them. A reminder notice will be sent out closer to the date.
Player of the Day: We would love to celebrate these players each week. If you coach or manage a team please don’t forget to send in your weekly nominations for player of the day so that they can be mentioned in our school sports newsletters.

Other sporting events:
Occasionally, we are approached by clubs and schools in the community who offer sporting events and codes that are not offered through our school. Please see below a couple of options for your child to take part in if they wish. These are not affiliated with Torbay School and are through external providers. Any questions about these should be directed to the contact on the poster or blurb.
If you have any questions, please email Sam Coyle – sports@torbay.school.nz
